Time to Prepare for Hurricane Season!
The 2011 Hurricane Season begins June 1, 2011. Experts are once again predicting a busy season; With 17 named storms, 9 of those becoming hurricanes. Also predicted, a 73% chance of an East Coast landfall. While there is nothing we can do to prevent a hurricane, there are certainly things we can do to prepare! Below you will find helpful links that will educate, inform and assist you in preparing for the upcoming storm season. All residents of the Authority will be receiving a copy of the updated Preparedness Manual with contact information for staff, town officials and emergency services, as well as shelter locations, special needs and pet shelter registration forms and evacuation route information. We are asking that all residents update their Emergency Contact form, especially those that are elderly or disabled. New this year will be a "Whereabouts" form. In the event of a hurricane the Authority will require evacuating resident to inform the Authority of their whereabouts during and after the storm and to give contact information so staff can establish the health and safety of residents when the storm is over.
